Title: Application of PRF technologies in surgical dentistry and periodontal regeneration

Abstract

Platelet-Rich Fibrin (PRF) is an autologous biomaterial derived from the patient’s own blood, providing a natural and biologically active scaffold that accelerates tissue regeneration. PRF contains platelets, leukocytes, and growth factors including PDGF, TGF-β, VEGF, IGF, and EGF, which collectively enhance soft and hard tissue healing, reduce postoperative discomfort, and optimize clinical outcomes in oral surgery and periodontal therapy. This presentation will detail the preparation protocols, handling techniques, and clinical applications of PRF, emphasizing its scientific rationale, procedural steps, and evidence from contemporary studies. Specific uses include tooth extraction, dental implant placement, sinus lift procedures, bone augmentation, and treatment of periodontal defects. Attendees will learn how PRF can improve gingival regeneration, support root coverage, reduce periodontal pockets, and strengthen soft tissue attachment. By attending, dental professionals will acquire practical insights on integrating PRF into daily practice, optimizing healing, minimizing complications, and implementing biologically based, minimally invasive techniques. This session will provide evidence-based knowledge that researchers and clinicians can immediately apply, fostering innovation and improving patient care in both surgical and periodontal contexts.

The audience take away from presentation:

  • Comprehensive understanding of PRF biology and mechanisms of action.
  • Step-by-step guidance for PRF preparation and clinical implementation.
  • Clear knowledge of indications, contraindications, and best practices.
  • Evidence-based benefits for surgical and periodontal outcomes.
  • Practical strategies to enhance tissue healing, patient satisfaction, and clinical efficiency.
